Baths’ latest EP, Ocean Death, sees Will Wiesenfeld branching out into new territory. Its opening title track is darker in tone than much of Wiesenfeld’s previous work with its deep rumbling vocal and pounding bassline. The following tracks are closer to the lush baroque pop of 2013’s Obsidian with similarly intimate subject matters explored on ‘Voyeur’ and ‘Orator’. ‘Yawn’ merges a string backing with glitchy electronic experimentation, sounding as if the track is being slowly corrupted and overwritten by noise.
