Having officially made the leap to directing full-length features with 2010’s Rubber, French producer/cult icon Mr Oizo is back with another film under his birth name of Quentin Dupieux and accompanying album. Wrong Cops functions as a soundtrack to the offbeat police-comedy of the same name and a best of album of sorts. Several of the tunes here have appeared elsewhere, including ‘Stunt, ‘Flip Bat’ and ‘Solid’, who’s featured vocalist Marilyn Manson also has a role in the film. Wrong Cops is typically sleazy, synth-fuelled fare from Oizo, but the Morricone/Carpenter-esque opening tracks ‘Copening Redits’ and ‘WC’ are of particular interest.
