Mute’s Liberation Technologies imprint continue their incisive run of releases with an EP of caustic techno from Container. While ‘Glaze’ opens up with a bumping electro funk, complete with offbeat vocoded drones, it doesn’t remain untarnished for long as it is slowly crushed into flat walls of distortion. ‘Adhesive’ is similarly unhinged, with unceasing gun-shot snares bubbling over into swooping synthetic sirens, while ‘Complex’ reconfigures the bludgeoning synthetic drums into a slower but no less physical strut. ‘Slush’ is the pick though, with ultra-high squeals dripping over a lopsided DJ-Stingray beat, which routinely overloads into coarse feedback.
