The Black Dog’s seventh album Radio Scarecrow was something of a career renaissance upon initial release in 2008, available once again in celebration of its 15th anniversary. Ken Downie’s second collaborative effort with Richard and Martin Dust (of Dust Science label fame), the LP utilised a terse, conspiracy theory related thematic framework to work through the head-y post club and electronic listening music on which Downie had made The Black Dog name, this time taking a harder and heavier stance than before, in bass weight particularly the trio noting: "The beats are faster and the bass is much heavier - so much so that it was making us ill, working with the low frequencies for hours on end." With dancefloor movers sequenced between and around the more abstract interstitial tracks, Radio Scarecrow runs like an event album in every sense and led to near unanimous critical acclaim.
