Citing “The Human League and Heaven 17 during their break-up era”, The Black Dog follow up The Grey Album with a short and sweet EP expanding the Sheffield-inspired album. The Reproduce EP updates ‘Borstal Communications’ in the ‘E0314 Mix’, adding twitchy, rhythmic electric shocks to the frosty atmosphere. Warm starlight is made audible in the chirping pinprick synth melodies of ‘4PO’, with brassy synths adding a cinematic quality, while ‘Star Dancer’ is characterised by stealth and action with a blazing bassline and air pushing beats.
