Any destructive adjective will do to describe the latest EP of apocalyptic dub from The Bug. The first in a series of “purpose built PRESSURE weapons” for use at label parties and live Bug events, Machine 1 is sure to make the speaker cones melt under the weight of its rip roaring rhythms and foreboding atmospheres. Sludgy kicks and lightning strikes patiently stomp in on ‘Annihilated’, fronting sirens, all consuming bass, and obliterated, unidentifiable sounds turned into rhythmic noise. ‘Released’ forces pressurised air through gaps in the beats as storm clouds roll in, signalling the electrical mayhem of ‘Battered’.
