Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan has always played with a very literal sense of sonic architecture based in its eponymous area, but the project’s latest record looks outwards with political scorn. Amidst his signature palette of layered, textural synths, Gordon Chapman-Fox presents something more brazen and rugged in response to the frustration of broken promises and the North-South divide. Building and burning across The Nation’s Most Central Location are precarious rhythms made from stone, stark soundscapes, and sinister harmonies betraying the optimism that titles like ‘A Brighter And More Prosperous Future’ might suggest.
