Coaxing cinematic textures out of guitar plucks as he does his array of synths, Gordon Chapman-Fox follows up his incendiary 2023 album with an EP more wistful in nature. Building A New Town travels back to the suburban architecture of the early 1970s, tracing idyllic scenes, structures, and winding pathways with the organic addition of guitar to Chapman-Fox’s electronic explorations. ‘The View From Halton Castle’ is enraptured in hopeful harmonics and dramatic organ tones, while ‘Solid Foundations’ leans towards psychedelia with haunting folk guitar melodies, whistling synths, and shimmering mellotron harmonies.
