Ed DMX makes a dazzling return to Peggy Gou’s Gudu Records with Return To Jupiter, showing off some of his best and most colourful material as of late. Ascending choir synths on the title track set up for a bouncing breakdown, with jumping synths painting the optimistic and ecstatic dance sounds that have united both Gudu and DMX’s catalogues. ‘U Ain’t Really Down’ switches out the sunny euphoria for destructive kicks and lasering synth incisor zipping and sparking chaos throughout, while the liquid acid bassline of ‘I Love Juan’ reins things with a bewitching choir and crystalline synth leads.
