Recorded in 1982, composer Tim Story’s Threads quietly represents an early milestone of progressive electronic and ambient composition — and it very nearly never saw a release at all. A hopeful start on a label suddenly vanished, but eventually Klaus Schulze’s preview copy — initially rejected by the kosmische legend — found its way into the hands of someone at Uniton Records. Fittingly rereleased on Dais Records, Threads is poised for rediscovery in all its resplendent synthesised glory, touching on the warm ambient bases of Harold Budd and the cosmic Krautrock crew, with daubs of electrified folk colour akin to Laurie Spiegel blooming on the windswept likes of ‘A Thousand Whispers’ and 'Without Waves'.
