John Beltran’s The Beltran Love EP is the sort of evocative techno collection that the Michigan producer has become a byword for after so many years in the game. Track titles ‘Love Freq’ and ‘Epic Soulmate’ tell you all you need to know about The Beltran Love’s A-side - these are soaring, heart-swelling, peak-time club tunes in the Carl Craig/Derrick May mould. On the flip, ‘Controller’ and ‘El Conquistador’ are a pair of more rhythmically-oriented numbers full of twittering percussion and choppy stabs of synthetic sound. No matter the vibe, everything Beltran does on The Beltran Love EP is masterfully executed.
