While we’ve come to expect sparser, icier, dub-infused excursions from the producer à la his full-length self-titled debut, there’s an air of classic jungle to this EP, despite Pessimist’s continued fascination with esoteric instrumentation. ‘Love In The Jungle’ takes its remit literally, as sampled animal cries flesh out synthesised flutes and clacking percussion, before ‘The Crawlers’ comes out dripping with rave-induced sweat. ‘Ridge Racer Revolution’ matches the previous track’s breakneck D&B speed, while closer ‘No Fxxxing Soul’, a more traditional Pessimist joint, gets spacious with a non-stop tambourine gridlock.
