Frustrated Funk welcomes back Reedale Rise for some more tunes for horizontal moods. Despite its humbling title, Doing Regular Things signals Reedale Rise at his stylistic peak, played out in contrasting modes of ambient and rhythmic. ‘Baiju’, ’Doing Regular Things’ and ‘Dead Calm’ reside in the former territory, their mellow synth climbs and glassy tones foregrounding creeping backdrops of melancholic pads like the crackling of a small bonfire, as their driving, 808-infused counterparts ‘Water Margin’, ‘Glade’ and ‘Translucent’ introduce snappy beats and wavy chords to herald a mass migration to the dancefloor.
