After a run of superb EPs for Ilian Tape dating back to 2012, those who were craving a full-length record from Andrea will be more than satisfied by the Ritorno LP. This set finds the Italian producer repeating the trick of combining dubwise atmospheres with club rhythms that are at once deft and weighty. Ritorno generally either runs at techno or jungle tempo, but the drum programming here frequently pushes the tracks to spaces slightly outside of those genres’ mainstreams - kick patterns are broken up while stuttering synths etherise the beats around them. In this regard Ritorno echoes Zeki 808’s Give Thanks, another excellent Ilian Tape release.
