The final record in Ghost Box Records’ Other Voices series sees the label welcome folk singer extraordinaire Sharron Kraus into the fold. In ‘Something Out Of Nothing’ Kraus offers up a piece of haunting baroque-folk that, as ever, is animated by her clear-throated singing. While this may not be the sort of stuff you think of when you bring Ghost Box to mind, the air of uncanniness that pervades the song actually makes it a fine fit for the label. Those who still yearn for Ghost Box sound of yore will have their thirst quenched by the B-side remix from label boss Belbury Poly. Said version takes Kraus’ vocals and weds it to an eerie library-pop instrumental to great effect.
