Heavenly’s Saint Etienne reissue wagon rolls on. The group’s sixth studio album is the latest to see wax again, and like the band’s best mid-90s work it is a pleasingly skittish affair. Kicking off with ‘Action’ - a track that is the sort of louche techno-pop that the name Saint Etienne is now a byword for - the rest of Finisterre finds itself hopping between ambient music, UK hip-hop, synth-pop, trip-hop and much more. It finds a kindred spirit in Cornershop’s When I Was Born For The Seventh Time (the one with ‘Brimful of Asha’ on it) - a cosmopolitan, clever and particularly British sort of album. Great fun.
