One of the UK’s best-loved indie-dance groups are finally getting the reissue treatment. The group’s second LP initially dropped in 1993 and endures as a musical love letter to both London and the world. Taking cues from their shoegazing contemporaries as well as The Beach Boys, Serge Gainsbourg and The Who, the trio deliver a charming record full of keening dream-pop. Notable for furthering the album’s narrative by an innovative-at-the-time use of samples between songs, the influence of So Tough can now be heard in groups ranging from Camera Obscura to The Magnetic Fields.
