Insane retrospective of Burnt Friedman’s extensive career that will appeal to long time fans and those totally uninitiated alike. Nonplace collect seventeen tracks including collaborative efforts with Hayden Chisholm, Takeshi Nishimoto etc (sadly no Jaki Liebezeit though!). Friedman and co move through mutant dub, minimal jazz motifs and cold, sparse electronic arrangements in fine style. Great tribute to a long standing sound explorer and a fitting introduction for anyone who may have just discovered Friedman via this year’s Dekmantel 12”. Highlights include ‘Languish’, ‘Day in Rho’ and ‘Grace’.
