Moondog's debut release, originally on the Prestige label, came out in 1956, long after he'd become a legendary New York City street performer and Viking-outfitted enigma. The Kansas native showcases his solitary talent for minimal and avant-garde performance here, compositions driven by junkshop percussion and Japanese-inflected melody lines wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of NY street sounds, chanted recitations, and wyrd animal noises. You will not hear anything like this - today, tomorrow. Moondog is 100 years old this year, celebrate his birth by copping this special LP pressing.
