New York label Palto Flats – responsible for reissuing that wonderful Mariah album – turn their focus to British experimental group Woo, who for four decades have been reissuing cult records of bewildering but enchanting music. Hovering somewhere around jazz, synth experiments, dub, meditative new age, MOR, krautrock, post-punk and far beyond, Woo’s sounds are impossible to categorise and sound utterly unique. Awaawaa collects tracks from Woo’s archives, recorded in South London between 1975 and 1982. It’s far-out, but totally compelling.
