Following recent album ESTOILE NAIANT for Warp and his East London-based 555-5555 series of parties, patten unveils his next project for his label Kaleidoscope, a series of 50/50 EPs, with an artist EP presented on each side of the vinyl. Side A comes courtesy of Vanilla Hammer and is a tour de force of low-slung hip-hop rooted experimental beat-based electronica, starting off with the bubble and squeak entry of Photo ID before sliding into house-based territory with the rattling percussive workout of African Minerals before field recordings and found-sounds dust out the A with A Slow Shadow. Flip the 12" over for Aldous RH's Seductive Atmospheres, an emotive side of lush house grooves and half-time disco. Rarely picking up the pace from its stoned, laid-back flow all executed with the echos of boogie ringing throughout. A strong pairing to start off the series, presented in a double sided stickered sleeve, limited to 250 copies.
