Marking the 73rd for Nicolas Jaar’s Other People imprint, this eponymous debut from Goodbye isn’t dissimilar from Jarr’s own output. Off kilter electronic compositions which effectively defy genre and definition. From the crestfallen balladry of Honest Woman to the amorphous writhing synth lines of Open Road, this is a record with no clear agenda and no tangible mission statement. There are moments of almost childlike melody against dystopian computerised productions (see the title track for the best exemplar). An album that succeeds in truly sounding like nothing else.
