New York producer Nicolas Jaar teams up with Pakistani author/singer Ali Sethi for a special reworking of Jaar’s 2020 LP Telas now retitled Intiha. Out on Jaar’s own Other People imprint, Intiha’s conception comes out of a natural friendship and mutual background in improvisational art and music. Though spontaneous in nature to the ears, Sethi’s poetic vocal contributions date back months before the two even met, with the original Telas release serving as a springboard for his earlier attempts at using his poetry to bridge the gap between the ancient and modern Arab worlds. Moved by Sethi’s added sketches and loops upon introduction, the two set to work on an official re-do of the album, with the end result being this marvellous case study in celebration.
