Little-known techno artist Vril has been dropping bombs on the Giegling label for years, once commissioned by Marcel Fengler to contribute an exclusive to his Berghain mix. Ahead of his long-awaited debut LP ‘Torus’ comes this single for Delsin, allegedly the first record to crash the veteran outfit’s mastering hardware. It’s easy to see why when you hear ‘Vortekz’: all harsh, ragged 4/4s, clattering synths and escalating white noise in the background like a kettle boiling over. The dub mix on the flip makes each one of its lumbered pads hit like a gut-punch, while ‘y7/10’ is all about the synths, echoing gently around a harsher techno hook. A heavy-hitting EP that takes your mind somewhere deep.
