Visionary Berlin-based Brit Sam Shackleton returns in the wake of the phenomenal ‘Drawbar Organ’ EPs with three new cuts on his own Woe to the Septic Heart! imprint, proving once more his unrivalled ability to make infectious yet dark music for the dancefloor. Whilst Shackleton’s Terry Riley-esque organs still remain a central presence on ‘Freezing Opening Thawing’, there’s a new sharpness to the sound quality which marks an intriguing development in the producer’s sound. ‘White Flower With Silvery Eye’ is edged only by plucked electronic strings which recall LP-5 era Autechre, while ‘Silver Keys’ opens with a pinched keyboard sound which could be from a track by the Fall.
