After three years, Lord Of The Isles and Ellen Renton return to AD 93 with their first collaborative album. My Noise Is Nothing is a union of soundscapes and wordscapes, where the ebb and flow of synths and occasional breakbeats frames Renton’s tender, visceral, bitingly beautiful poetry, which romanticises the mundane and sets the world alight whilst barely rising above a murmur. Caressing waves of synths roll amidst fizzling twangy stabs and spectral piano notes as Renton muses, “There is skill in limbs lost to dance,” while the closing title track rises from blurry ripples to walloping broken rhythms.
