Berlin-based techno experimentalist Barker makes his debut on Oslo’s Smalltown Supersound with a new EP (his first in three years) entitled Unfixed. Ever the tinkerer, Barker has put aside his famed “kickless” dance music process for the first time here, with Unfixed the end result of his time spent experimenting with the resonation and architecture of the kick drum within a functional dance track. While obviously cerebral in nature, tracks like downright rave-y opener ‘Birmingham Screwdriver’ and the equally bruising ‘Golden Hammer’ are capable of moving bodies with ease.
