A collection of rarities surfaces on Minimal Wave (In Aeternam Vale, Martin Dupont). While a couple of the tracks that make up Hot-Bip have seen light of day on cassette compilations, much of what we have here has only been heard by a handful of people prior to this release. Philippe Laurent laid down these numbers between 1979 and 1988. The ten tracks here evince an artist using the DIY energy of minimal wave as a starting point from which to explore genres such as fairground pop (‘Dance 3’), techno (‘Et Hop’) and Goth (‘Le Temps De Cerises’). It’s an oddly charming collection.
