Originally released on Mute in 1984 on  this was Wire man, Bruce Gilbert's first solo album. A stunning study of controlled ambience and subtle minimalism, that still retains its power 25 years on. The bulk of the album is taken up by a charcoal grey tonal poem of beautiful bleakness which builds up to an ecstatic crescendo of the third movement. Gilbert is responsible for a thrilling work of noise-power electronics and subtle melodic counterpoint, Editions Mego responsible for making it shine once more.
