Having toiled away for many, many years, worshipping at the altar of rave’s golden era one 12” at a time, Roy of the Ravers returns to Emotional Response for a multi-decade-spanning double LP. White Line Sunrise II is ultimately testimony to Roy’s steadfast spirit as a producer and general dream-chaser. The emotive, orchestral synths of the opening title track give way to the rhythmic optimism of ‘Robinson College 10’, a slow-build to sequenced lead heaven. That’s the vibe throughout, be it on the skittering electronic textures of ‘A Dim & Distant Past’ or the warped ambience of ‘The Clock House Pt. 2’.
