Anyone with a passing interest in electronic music will have got wind that Marie Davidson’s Working Class Woman was one of the records of 2018. Now two of the LP’s standout cuts, ‘Workaholic Paranoid Bitch’ and ‘Day Dreaming’, are thrown to the remixers. Both Nina Kraviz and Afrodeutsche do their versions two ways. Kraviz tears into ‘Workaholic…’, her duo of edits all frenetic kick drums and screeching synths (though the ‘Dub’, as one might expect, is a mite more spacious than the claustrophobic ‘Workaholic’ version). Flip the thing over and we get Afrodeutsche’s comparatively calm reworkings of ‘Day Dreaming’. While the first remix is a hypnagogic delight ala Majical Cloudz, the ‘Beat Free’ version is the real trip.
