7 is the seventh album of shoegaze dream-pop from Beach House, following on the group's bittersweet Depression Cherry, 7's 11 tracks offer smudged tales of love, loss and longing.
At the time of release, Beach House have written seventy-seven tracks together, and as this is their seventh album as a group, they rather imaginatively came up with the idea to title the album 7. While last year they released an album of b-sides and rarities, the group have used 7 as a way to reset the stage and in their own words put the past to bed, and start anew.
Listening to 7 we can't really see a huge leap forward from previous albums if we are honest. As expected it's got that softcore MBV feel nailed while its spine-tingling guitar notes and fuzzy Stereolab in a daydream vibe, is sure to leave all heartbroken indie kids spellbound.
For the rest of us, it's a rather romantic trip that once you let it get inside your head it's gonna be hard to let it out.
