Village Green Recordings (Angele David-Gillou, Snow Palms) love a bit of contemporary classicism, and they’ve found themselves another new composer in the form of William Young aka Moon Gangs. Earth Loop sees the Beak> member MOONlighting (ahem) as a maker of dystopian soundscapes that bare a heavy influence of Vangelis and Tangerine Dream. Tracks like ‘Second Run’ and ‘The Terminal’ have sections that could soundtrack a chase scene in a TRON film, but also contain vistas of icy stillness. The contrast between the two, accentuated by the tape-hiss that shrouds these recordings, pitches Earth Loop close to some of Forest Swords’ Engravings.
