A trio of experimental heavyweights come together for a unique LP here. Flowers Of Sulphur is a recording of a performance by YoshimiO (Boredoms, OOIOO), Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe (Lichens) and percussionist/composer Susie Ibarra that was made at Brooklyn’s Roulette venue in December 2016. Split into four parts and running to well over an hour in length, the sound world that the three artists usher us into on Flower of Sulphur is eerie and arresting. At times the you need to cradle the speaker to your ear to hear the group’s strange incantations; at others you reel back from the swells of avant-jazz noise.
