DMX Krew returns to Hypercolour to show us his vision of the way forward with fourteen tracks that set a soundtrack of Strange Directions.

One of the most prolific artists from the braindance and electro scenes, DMX Krew knocks out records at such a pace that at times it's hard to keep up with, yet with each Hypercolour release he drops, we are always guaranteed to get some of his very best material bar none.

Hitting album number 21 with his usual blend of electro, electronica and the deeper shades of techno, Strange Directions finds the Krew on fine form. The album is notable for the way that ideas from recent years' classics appear to be drawn out for inspiration, yet the overarching feeling is always one of pushing his sound forward, even if the direction may not make sense right away. From the spooky undertone of the album opener, Snowy Blue where the synths borrow nicely from the mystical Standing Stones album, through to Kinesthetic, which steps into the same shoes as his recent library LP for Ekster. The ideas and sounds that have made these staples of our DMX listening habits are nicely expanded and built upon within Strange Directions.

Much like recent years highlights Shape Shifting Shaman and You Exist, Strange Directions contains some of the most enjoyable material from Ed DMX's constantly expanding output. If you only buy one DMX Krew record this year we would recommend this one, brilliant stuff as always from the master!
