Japanese veteran Go Hiyama’s catalogue numbers over 80 releases, so it’s no surprise that his latest effort brims with confidence and command of his craft. Fusing techno, noise collage, sound design and sample sculpting, the Go Hiyama aesthetic sits in a realm somewhere between The Haxan Cloak and The Gaslamp Killer. Tracks here tend to ease their way in, putting out feelers before coming through with great sheets of noise and wonky rhythms - ‘CLUBCLUBCLUB’, ‘Breath’ and ‘Embrace’ being the main offenders. Elsewhere, the appropriately titled ‘Rhythmic’ veers closer to KiNK-flavoured techno, while closer ‘BPMTOKYO’ is a high-speed charge to the finish line.
