More goodness from the Idle Hands empire here. Bristol-via-Milan producer Piezo seems to take his sound apart before you on this three-track release, beginning as it does with a locked groove and ending with drums and samples pulling away from each other. Opener ‘Opeq’, then, is a nice wedge of eyes-down techno. Sombre and subtle, the track shows the producer’s Bristol influence despite its four-to-the-floor through the great billows of reverb and undulating minor chords. ‘Novemilauno’ is a schizophrenic, see-sawing cut that sits somewhere between jungle, dancehall and dubstep. By the time we get to the curious closer ‘Lume’, with its isolated wobbles of bass and not-all-there groove, Piezo has distilled his sound into something purer than that with which he started while simultaneously disassembling it.
