His breakout record for Tru Thoughts would see him become one of the premier artists in dance and electronica, and his penchant for lifting samples and matching them to crisp rhythms is displayed effortlessly across One Offs. Amidst jazz and funk grooves, lilting strings, and solemn rhodes are the curiously fanned out strums of ‘Magicman’, with expertly manipulated skittering drum breaks, and the boisterous ‘Scuba’, leaving the most explosive for last with staggered beats and plucks.
