Squelch-heavy tab of 303 laced bass bangers from Chevvers, new on Acid Waxa!
Among the legions of hardware heads keepin' it old-school, Chevron is one of the very best. Whether it's donning sub-low dubstep or hi-end hi-tech house, no matter what he turns his hand to it's gonna be expertly produced to provide hypnotic stability no matter what rave/cave/living room it is unleashed upon. Tintagel House is Chevron's fifth album and another highly valued yet strikingly limited edition drop, following on from a blinder for Balkan (sold out in under 24 hours!) plus the digi-dub Lifeshake for Planet Mu.
With Acid Waxa, we reckon Chevron has found his new home. Like the label's name suggests, Tintagel House is acid with a proper thick, yet chewy and melty sound that you can really sink your teeth into. Packed to the brim with highlights, we've circled out a few for instant approval; 'Fifties Taster' with its nice 'n' slice drumfunk techno touch while 'Makossa Raptor' goes proto-electro, constantly threatening to spiral out of control yet keeping it steady with a razor jack. Not content to just rip em up with housevariants , he embraces his inner junglist on the rum anthem 'Morgan's Spiced', before 'Sunnudags Acid' adds a taste of gabba rave to the mix for that Bang Face all-weekend authenticity.
Acid Waxa are a new label around these parts, but with Tintagel House they have cemented themselves as newly formed firm favourites in the new wave of acid from Balkan Vinyl and ILA to De:tuned & Central Processing Unit.
