Blood Drums is the debut album from Time Gane's Cavern of Anti-Matter, originally released as a short run 2 x LP back in 2013 and currently going for vast sums on the second-hand market, this deluxe reissue spreads the original album across three 12"s and a first time CD edition, for anyone whose jaw dropped when they heard void beats/invocation trex, this is a real no-brainer.
Every track bristles with the sort of production talent that could only of come from a trio well equipped with a rich history of both producing machine-funk and record collections that we imagine would cover many a living or bedroom wall. It's a truly telling feature that the tunes, when taken out of the context of the album carry the sort of trademarks that could see them placed upon some kind of unheard classics of European post-punk comp or a proto-techno German new wave sampler previously lost to time.
Blood Drums is a vibrant painting of utopian substances that whilst will satisfy the home listener work equally well in the position of a well placed DJ set. For Cavern of Anti-Matter, this was year zero. Starting their trip by making shapes and structures that are composed to move limbs and get hearts pumping when played at a very necessary loud volume, all of this in perfect time to the beat of the endlessly captivating Blood Drums.
