It's always a pleasure to hear something new from Roman Flugel, whose reputation as one of Germany's most celebrated and versatile producers is supported as much by heads as it is by journalists. Verscheibung is his first EP of the year, a four-track techno journey of minimalistic ebbs and flows. A gentle undercurrent of driving pulses and grooves provides the melody and mood while painterly bleeps speak out in the relative quiet. Not many have the dexterity to craft something this awkwardly beautiful.
