Originally released in 1957 by the legendary Folkways label, this long out of print and hard to find Folkways LP gets a well needed reissue by Death Is Not the End. Often mistakenly attributed to the late Alan Lomax, these seventeen field recordings were in fact carried out on a July summers evening in deepest Oaxaca, Mexico by a former J.P. Morgan & co vice president and his wife! This not only serves as an interesting cultural artifact but also as an engaging and truly ‘psychedelic’ listen from start to end.
