Former Emeralds synth-gazer Steve Hauschildt returns to Chicago institution Kranky (following a collection on Editions Mego in 2013) for his first solo material in three years. Kranky tells the tale of Where All Is Fled thus, ““surrealist landscape paintings, early alchemical emblems, and recurring visions… which reveal themselves after repeated listens and blur together notions of artificial and natural sound”. The organic and the electronic are at play here as Hasuchildt carefully combines echo-laden piano with swirling Juno patterns on the title track, while advancing the arpeggiated sounds of Cluster, Schnitzler et. al with processed crowd sounds and live orchestral instrumentation.
