Besides being busy shaping the expanding artist roster of his Cologne imprint Comeme (as showcased in the form of Lena Wilikens’ excellent debut EP as of latest), label boss Matias Aguayo is in the making of a four part EP series with work of his own. Again putting on the mask of El Rudo del House, an imaginary creature who speaks to you with a pitched-down voice and produces heavy house rhythms, this second part continues in the melting pot style of personal influences he introduced in the first episode. The Chilean producer shifts the focus towards tempo and clearly directs his percussive-centred pieces towards the dance floor. Throughout, Aguayo’s characteristic vocal fragments breathe life into the bare constructions: courtesy of subtle subduing, overdrive and distortion effects, the rhythmic patterns captivate with great textural depth.
