Australian folk artist Ry X and Berlin’s Frank Wiedemann (of Âme and Innervisions) have been filling Germany’s dance floors ever since their 2012 hit ‘Howling’, and now they’re collaborating as Howling on their debut album, set to arrive later this spring on Modeselektor’s Monkeytown and Counter Records. Its first single ‘Signs’ receives three mesmerising remix treatments. Berghain resident and Dystopian boss Rødhåd transforms the mellow original into a vibrant techno song, without taking away any of its spacious atmosphere. Neither does Swiss house producer Kalabrese who works with detailed percussion and atmospheric synths. Radioslave & Thomas Gandey who released a joint full-length as ‘Matom’ on Planet E last year present the original with a sub-heavy beat in the remix EP’s most epic take on the original.
