South-London based producer Dom Dvorak hits the ravages of our time with his latest EP as felicita on the new international imprint GUM. Following last year’s (>’.’)>#, Frenemies keeps up the sugary atmosphere of swirled, twisted and pitch-bended vocals. Fitting right in with the bubblegum coloured aesthetics the PC Music roster has put forward this year, ‘Doves’ pivots on a carousel tritone, ‘When You Get Home’ resumes the spoken word samples over a confused beat and atonal synth sounds, and ‘mmmmmmmhm’ escalates in orchestral manner, with the pitches slipping in wonderfully chaotic ways. A truly fresh sound.
