London-based producer Georgia Barnes, working as GEoRGiA, drops her debut release on upcoming label Kaya Kaya following drumming work for the likes of Kwes, Kate Tempest and Juce. A dark and dank affair, Come In sees a pop sensibility go deep over atmospheric dubstep-influenced electronic breaks. ‘Be Ache’, for example, encapsulates toxic relationships in its lyrics while soaring on a bed of carefully constructed electronic headiness. Syncopated bass drums and rolling synths drive ‘Digits’ forward, as GEoRGiA sings of phone numbers and missed communications. An intriguing prospect, which shows heart and mind working in perfect harmony.
