Manchester-based producer Pye Corner Audio teams up with fellow Mancunian imprint Front & Follow for The Black Mist EP. The murky title cut originally featured on the 2013 Outer Church compilation and displays Pye Corner Audio’s multi-referencing sound, with a doom-laden Italo arpeggio cradling blazon chords and a restrained acid riff. On the other side, ‘Bulk Erase’ drops the tempo dramatically for a dark, snail-speed excursion driven by the producer’s vintage analogue tools whereas Old Apparatus’ remix strips the beat entirely to bear the savage electronic drone in all its glory.
