Los Angeles producer Zane Reynolds, better known as SFV Acid, returns to UNO NYC with an impressive follow-up to 2013’s The Dwell. Amber’s Songs finds Reynolds expanding on his rich sound, a hazy mix of retro electronics and burly bass that effortlessly invokes his San Fernando Valley home. The driving ‘Cheddar Mercedes’ is built around a pulsing beat and choice video-game synths, while the downtempo ‘Fage Kisses’ and ‘Pink iPhone’ favour lush melodies and minimal grooves. ‘Pillows’ features gorgeously layered vintage synthlines, and on ‘Dirty Martini’, ‘Vanilla Musk’ and closer ‘No Stress’, Reynolds lives up to his moniker, throwing down some seriously heavy acid-house vibes.
