Fay Davis-Jeffers AKA Fay returns to Californian imprint Time No Place for Deathwatch, her second release since the impressive debut LP Din. Blurring the boundaries between human and machine, Deathwatch carries hints of verbal mutterings but is mainly driven by experimental rhythm. Leading off with the squeaking offbeat groove of ‘C.a.y.a’ things drift from striped bass guitar strings of ‘Sex Hats’ to the dub groove and chopped vocals of ‘Face II’. ‘One Last Thing’ intertwines some authentic hand drumming with deep stomps and Fay’s sultry vocals whilst closing piece ‘What Wouldn’t You Do’ rounds things off with its long-drawn melancholic keys.
